Warrington indie pop band The A.V. Club have entered a new phase with their brand new single ‘Mistakes’, out Friday 5th March.
Thriving since their very beginning, The A.V. Club have been dropping carefully crafted indie pop bops since early 2020. Their exciting blend of nostalgic electro sounds with modern indie-pop vibes has captured the attention of many, including John Kennedy who tipped them as a ‘One To Watch’ on his Radio X show last year. After an extremely well-received EP ‘Youthful Illusions’, the band swiftly followed it up with singles ‘Over U’ and ‘Real Love’, quenching the thirst of their ever-increasing following.
The Warrington quartet are now back with their first offering of 2021, in the form of new single ‘Mistakes’. The single’s hooky synth melodies and catchy chorus pair to create a bittersweet, soaringly cinematic listen. Dubbed as an anthem for reckless young lovers, ‘Mistakes’ follows the story of a person living with regret over a past relationship, reflecting on their heartache and the resulting emotions of letting someone they loved go for no real reason other than being young and reckless. It’s a relatable story; something more people will have experienced than they care to admit.
‘Mistakes’ was written in just a couple of hours, while singer Joe was waiting to go on a night out during the brief period of time the first lockdown was lifted. The full demo, including all instrumentation, was tracked by Joe at his home studio, before it was completed by the full band at Matchbox Studios. Fans of Fickle Friends, Sea Girls, Wallows, Valley, The 1975 and Swim Deep will find their new favourite band with The A.V. Club.
‘Mistakes’ will be available on all streaming and purchasing platforms on Friday 5th March 2021.
Alonna did a write-up on the realese. See below what she said: The A.V. Club’s newest track, Mistakes, found its way onto our desk, and I was blown away. So there I was, it was a normal Friday night, and I was watching reruns of Deal or No Deal, (remember that show? No? Oh okay) when I was given the privilege of being able to listen to the new track by The A.V. Club, which by the way, love the name! Without hesitation I turned off Howie Mandel, and all my lights and away I went, on a lyrical trip with The A.V. Club!
The song is very reminiscent of Sam Smith meets The 1975, and I love this fusion. The catchy pop tune makes you want to get up and dance, while the powerful vocals tell you a story about the narrator promising to not make the same mistakes again. The track itself is a wonderful whirlwind that’ll have you dancing AND missing your ex, but don’t take my word for it, listen to Mistakes by The A.V.
