True Villains is a Nashville based straight-forward rock and roll band melding the raw energy and excitement of a bygone era with a take that is all their own.
Opening for many bands, such as Tremonti, Stryper, and well-known rock band, Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown, True Villains has graced the stages of Cannery Ballroom, Mercy Lounge, The Cowan, The Basement East, Exit/IN, and 3rd and Lindsley, to name a few. As a result, the band quickly grew their fan base in Nashville, eventually getting the attention of producer Greg Archilla (Matchbox 20, Collective Soul, Buckcherry), with whom they are currently working on new music. They were on the lineup for the Louder than Life Music Festival in September 2018, alongside artists such as Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, Alice in Chains, Nine Inch Nails, Avenged Sevenfold, and many more. They performed at the Tennessee Motorcycles and Music Revival at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch with Whiskey Myers, where they won over a diverse audience of concertgoers with their unique, high-energy brand of rock and roll. One of True Villains’ most signature tracks, titled ‘Cut Me Loose’, was recently featured on Spotify’s ‘New Noise’ rock playlist, as well.
The backbone and founding members of Nashville’s True Villains, Tim Venerosa, responsible for the epic guitar riffs, and Matt Carter, the hard-hitting drummer, have watched the band flourish since its inception in late 2015. The two first met in Los Angeles while attending Musician’s Institute and reconnected in Nashville years later, where they decided to start a project of their own. After a few lineup changes, they recruited bassist Barry Conaway, who is known for his energetic antics on stage. This led them on a hunt for the final ingredient, which came in January 2017, in the form of Beau Lastavich, lead singer who is well-equipped with dynamic stage presence and a vocal range that knows no bounds. They wasted no time and played their first show in February, just one month later. The immediate chemistry between the members helped them compose their debut EP, “Cut Me Loose”, that was released in October 2017. During the recording session, Greg Herndon, brought in to add some keys to the songs, found his permanent place in the band. Their songs offered rock fans a new hope that the seemingly extinct genre was, in fact, still alive and well. True Villains is an unstoppable force to be reckoned with.
Prior to focusing their efforts on True Villains, Beau, Tim, Matt, Greg, and Barry have spent their time in Nashville performing on the stages of Lower Broadway, touring extensively with major label artists, playing on sessions, and even making several appearances on The Grand Ole Opry. Garnering all of this experience, each member brings a unique and diverse element to the band. Collectively, they hope to continue to create, perform, and move people with the music that made them pick up an instrument in the first place.
I just saw these guys while they were on tour with Steel Panther and they blew my mind!
They have such a killer energy on stage and their music is a breath of fresh air.
